Skinner led from the first lap and established an early buffer, using stunning cold tyre pace in the opening laps to build a buffer that he would never lose. The South Australian-based Team BRM driver then controlled the race out in front from there, winning by just under three seconds.

Championship leader James Winslow was second, In an inspired drive he had charged to fifth by the end of the first lap and ran third by lap four – but once he was in second he had no answer for the eventual rookie winner.

Skinner was naturally over the moon with the win, the first in his six-race F3 career and the first for Team BRM since June last year.

“I didn’t expect that coming into this weekend,” he said.

“I just wanted to keep all four wheels on it and bring it home but to do it here and at the first round my father has come to; I couldn’t have asked for it to be any better.

“I knew coming into the race that consistency & cold tyres was going to be the strongest point’s of my race, especially after qualifying. So I put my head down, and absolutely went for it on the first lap.

“I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time and I think it’s my first ever car race win at a national level, in Australia.”

Sunday did not seem to run as smoothly with mechanical issues forcing Jordan to limp home to salvage championship points.

“I am a little disappointed with the way the weekend has finished up but this is only the third round and everyone is going to have a bad round, but I am just happy that mine has come early and after such a promising first race,” he stated

“So I am just aiming to carry on the momentum from race one in to Darwin in a few months.”

Another strong performance for the South Australian Rookie this weekend seen him move into 3rd place on the points table in just his second Formula 3 outing.

Fridays testing was promising with having top 4 pace but being up against such experienced competitors in the category it was always going to be tough to try and knock them off . The weekend presented big challenges for Jordan to learn on the run such as low down-force and big braking zones but true to his nature he hit the ground running and made the most of all the track time available.

Race one was full of slip streaming and intense overtaking which allowed Skinner to get up into 3rd place. But it wasn’t smooth sailing from there for the rookie with 2011 series champion Chris Gilmore breathing down his neck for a large part of the race before challenging Jordan into turn six on the final lap. But Skinner kept his cool and held the position to claim his first podium in just his second Formula 3 race.

race two and three were also strong performances from skinner finishing 5th & 4th in the last two races of the weekend. ” I am happy with the way the weekend has gone, getting my first podium and having good speed but i am struggling with cold tire performance in comparison to guys in front of me which i think can be expected considering my low level of experience with wings and slick. But over all i am happy with my rate of improvement” Said Skinner.

The Australian Formula 3 championship goes the iconic circuit of Mount Panorama next week for round three of the championship. Formula 3 has not been raced at Bathurst in over 20 years which should make for some interesting racing. We asked Jordan what his thoughts on racing at his famous track were: ” Oh man is going to be a bit daunting i think but at the same time i cant wait to hit the track. Its all going to be about experience and who has the biggest cubes” Skinner said laughing ” But again i am just going to worry about my self and make the most of the opportunity”

Racing starts Saturday morning so keep a look out on facebook and twitter for updates and results.

March 1st 2012 Wallaroo boy Jordan Skinner debuted in his first Formula 3 outing on the streets of Adelaide, gaining solid points in the hunt for the 2012 Formula 3 Golden Star. In a weekend that proved tough for the South Australian with shortened testing on Thursday due to a gear shift failure and lack of experience on the challenging street circuit of Adelaide, he still managed to show promising speed against his much more experienced competitors.

After a some what slow get-away in the first race, Skinner found himself in 7th but outstanding cold tyre pace and bravery helped him peel back through to 4th with some impressive overtaking moves around the outside of turn 8. Getting off the line was still hindering Jordan in race two, dropping two positions off the start but again he managed to claw his way back to fourth and put pressure on defending champion Chris Gilmore.

Race 3 was a much better start for Jordan holding his position and applying pressure for 3rd place. But when entering the huge braking zone of turn 9 he was hit from behind and turned around which placed him at the rear of the field. But in a race filled with spectacular carnage and entertaining passing Jordan managed to come back through to 5th.

” All in all i don’t think it was a bad weekend considering it being my first race in Formula 3. We are sitting 4th in the championship and there is still six long rounds to go, i am looking forward to Symmons Plains in 3 weeks.’

Jordan was pleased by getting a late chance to compete in round 3 of the Champion of brands/Burt Ray memorial trophy this weekend.

In a highly competitive field including MSA British Formula Ford championship front runners took to the fantastic Brands Hatch GP circuit for 20 minutes of qualifying, and having not being able to test on the GP circuit prior to qualifying it was going to sort the men from the boys. It was difficult conditions for the drivers knowing that the best times were going to be set reasonably early before the heat stole the best of the tyres.

But when the smoke cleared it was Skinner who was on top by 0.357 seconds ahead of Cormac O’neal and Nicholas McBride.

At 5:40pm the Field lined up on the grid ready for the red light to extinguish allowing them to rocket into turn one, Skinner had a flying start with what looked like a 4 car lead going in to turn one. Skinner was under pressure for most race trying to fend off the straight line speed of the Australian built Spectrum chassis, but fast consistent times and no mistakes let him edge away from the field to take the win 1.5 ahead of 2nd place for the Burt Ray memorial trophy and champion of brands.

” It was a good race, I knew that the spectrum was going to be hard to keep behind me on the straights so the plan going into the race was to work hard to get a gap and break the tow. I’m over the moon about the win especially because it was in a 20 year old car up against more current cars and it just shows that I am able to do the business when given the opportunity.” Skinner quoted after the race.

This was a very positive weekend for Skinner by impressing on lookers and showing his raw talent and dedication towards his motor sport career . Hope fully we will see him driving again soon, where and when is unclear but be sure he will be fast and in winning form.

After only having stepped in a tin top for the first time in his career the day before qualifying for the first round of the Ginetta G55 super cup, Skinner has pulled out of the championship due to lack of finical support.

The young star qualified 6th in his first outing but was unable to get a finish in any of the three races due to being hit in all three races. All drivers involved in making contact with jordan were given penalties but of corse that did not help Jordan’s result. There is no indiction of when jordan will be racing again.
